Nairobi’s top bartender revealed in grueling contest
Art Caffe’s Samia Joan is Nairobi’s number one bartender after emerging victorious in a month-long competition that attracted over 80 bartenders.
The winner, who was crowned on Tuesday night at a city hotel, took home a golden cocktail shaker for her effort.
The competition involved several rounds of challenges that tested the bartenders’ skills in speed, creativity and food pairing.
“I am extremely happy to be announced as the Diageo World Class Bartender of the Year. It is such an honour for me to go and represent Kenya on the global platform,” said Samia.
Samia will now represent Kenya at a global bartender competition in Miami, USA in September.
