Lupita endorses ‘The Real Househelps of Kawangware’ show
Kenyan Oscar Award winner Lupita Nyong’o has endorsed a local television drama that is nominated in the upcoming Kalasha Awards.
‘The Real Househelps of Kawangware’ that airs on KTN was mentioned by Ms Nyong’o on her Instagram page as being her “guilty pleasure.”
The actress shared a screen shot of a scene in the drama series where Timothy Kimani, who plays Njugush in the program, is caught by his onscreen girlfriend Matilda cheating on her.
“Day off from#EclipsedPlay. Catching up on my guilty pleasure, The Real Househelps of Kawangware. #cantgetenough #swahilihilarity #sheng #ifonlyicouldtranslate #GodblessNjuguna #TRHK,” wrote Ms Nyong’o.
The endorsement comes with only two weeks left to the Kalasha Awards gala where the TV series has been nominated in the Best Actor and Actress in TV Drama categories.
The two categories are open to public voting on the award’s website.
The show’s producer Philip Karanja commented on Ms Nyong’o’s post stating, “@lupitanyongo THANK YOU for the recognition. When are you coming over for a cameo appearance? Hehe keep watching.”
