How ‘Kenya @ 55 Sherehe Festival’ went down in Nairobi – PHOTOS


As Kenya turned 55 years old, Kenya Cane, a drink synonymous with the average day Kenyan hustler hosted a one-night three-county concert on the eve of Jamhuri Day.

Dubbed ‘Kenya @ 55 Sherehe Festival’, the festival took part in Meru, Kisumu and Nairobi counties

In Nairobi the event was held at the Nairobi Railways Grounds on Tuesday evening.

The event was held to not only celebrate our nation’s birthday but also to award winners who took part in the “Shangilia Hustle ya Kenya” promotion.

Edith Barasa of Ngong Road and Risper Kerubo of Kitengela both won cash business support worth Sh100,000 for taking part in the promotion.

The emcees of the night, Mwalimu Rachel and DJ Xclusive, kept the crowd on their feet with various Deejays playing Kenyan hit singles from back in the day to present day songs.

The main acts in Nairobi’s festival were Nameless, Wyre, Redsan and Nonini with other artistes gracing the Meru and Kisumu festivals.

The emcees sang happy birthday with the crowd in attendance as fireworks lit the night sky to cap off a memorable night for the revelers.

DJ MohSpice brought the curtains down with some reggae tunes to jazz up the crowd until the wee hours of the morning.
