Heartless con preys on funds drive for ailing ‘The Trend’ presenter

Ailing media personality Njambi Koikai has called out an online con who has been swindling Kenyans.

Njambi, who recently launched her online funds drive to raise Sh10 million for treatment in the US, shared a screenshot of a Facebook post by one Nancy Nanjala Nyongesa who posed to be mobilising funds for Njambi’s treatment.

The con had shared an M-Pesa number registered under one Emma Lelei.

Njambi has been using Paybill number 490681.

The former radio and TV presenter warned Kenyans not to fall victim to the online con, while at the same time urging people not to take advantage of her situation.

“I’m not seeking to raise 20million as she states. The mpesa number shared is not my number. Thirdly, I’ve been quite open about my endometriosis journey since 2015. My family has paid all my hospital bills from then till now when we had to seek specialised treatment. Please don’t take advantage of such a situation. It could really happen to you and you won’t know what to do. Nancy, you’re inhumane!” Njambi wrote.

Njambi, who has recently been in and out of hospital for Thoracic Endometriosis – a condition which causes her lungs to collapse every month – needs Sh10 million for treatment in the US.

She made her appeal in October after years of struggling with the condition and after undergoing dozens of surgeries.
