EXCLUSIVE: R&B star Ne-Yo set for Nairobi gig


American R&B singer Ne-Yo is set to tour Nairobi for a cameo performance at the grand finale of Coke Studio Season Three that will be held later in the year, Nairobi News has learnt.

Ne-Yo, real name Shaffer Chimere, is an American R&B singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer and actor.

He is better known for his songwriting abilities when he penned the 2004 hit “Let Me Love You” for singer Mario.

This will be his first Kenyan tour.

He will perform in the grand finale of the musical show Coke Studio Africa 3 that has been running for the last three months.

The latest season has brought together big African musical acts like Nigeria’s 2Face Idibia and Chidinma. Others are Tanzania’s Ali Kiba, Vanessa Mdee and Fid Q.

Jose Chameleone led the Ugandan cast that included velvet-voice Juliana Kanyomozi, ladies man Maurice Kirya and Keko.

Kenya was represented by Avril, Jua Cali and Wangechi among others.

Coke Studio is a one of a kind music show that brings artistes from different genres, eras and regions together to create a modern and authentic African sound through musical fusion.

Coke Studio Africa show is produced by Coca-Cola Central, East and West Africa.
