Legendary Kenyan DJ Pinye on Wednesday celebrated his 48th birthday by apologizing to all the local musicians who feel he derailed their careers.

Last month the retired DJ made headlines when he was quoted by NRG radio saying that he cannot play mediocre music.

During the interview he also noted that some time back he would never have played music from the likes of rappers Khaligraph Jones and DNA.

He also stated that hit songs such as Lamba Lolo or New Position by Ethic Crew would never make the cut on his playlist.

His sentiments evoked fury from several artistes with a good number of them blaming him for not supporting their career when they were upcoming.

BIRTHDAY

But on the occasion of his birthday, DJ Pinye, who has always maintained his position on the standard of music he played, took time to offer his apologies to all the artistes who feel he let them down.

“On my bdays, I usually reflect on a lot of things about my life. Today, am thinking about my impact. My impact on other people’s lives specifically those in the music industry. One thing is clear, I am aware of my influence. I apologize to those who feel I played a part in derailing their music career,” DJ Pinye said.

“But am not apologetic for the values and standards I uphold for our music industry. It’s my birthday,” he added.
