Blankets and Wine returns with lots of fun, food and music


The annual Blankets and Wine festival made a comeback last weekend in what was a memorable day full of fun, good food and great music at Ngong Racecourse.

The day certainly belonged to visiting American singer, Aloe Blacc, who was the star attraction at the event.

But before the man of the moment stepped on the stage, Mayonde, with her soulful voice, gave a beautiful performance with songs off of her new album, Magic In The Air.

Then came Just a Band with a nostalgic performance in their last appearance as a group.

Muthoni the Drama Queen also did not disappoint with some of her songs to a crowd that just happy to sing along.

But the event’s highlight belong to Aloe Blacc. The crowd went into a frenzy when the Wake Me Up hit-maker finally took the stage. The hour that he spent on stage thrilled the eager and energetic crowd.

Some of the popular hits that he sang included The Man, Wake Me Up, Love Is The Answer, Red Velvet Seat and Here Today in what turned out to be an effortless show.

But the crowd was still craving for more and Aloe Blacc was compelled to do two more bonus songs.

The event was not all about the performing artistes, there was no short supply of guest celebrities.

Among the VIPs in the house were Chief Justice Dr Willy Mutunga, US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec and human rights activist Boniface Mwangi.

Also present were Sauti Sol, media personalities, Caroline Mutoko, Janet Mbugua and Larry Madowo.
