Auditions for new Sh10m ‘Old Mutual Amazing Voices’ reality show kick off

Auditions of a new reality singing competition show ‘Old Mutual Amazing Voices’ seeking to unearth budding musicians have started today in Mombasa.

The competition in which the ultimate winner will walk away with cash prize of $100,000 (Sh10 million) will see contestants from four African countries Kenya, Ghana, South Africa and Zimbabwe square off against each other for the grand prize.

The competitors will be drawn from nine cities of the four countries – Mombasa, Nairobi, Acrra, Kumasi, Bulawayo, Harare, Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg.

In Kenya, the auditions were held on October 8th and 9th in Mombasa at the Reef Hotel before it moves to Nairobi on Friday and Saturday this week at the UAP Old Mutual Office in Upperhill.

The show will seek to unearth raw unsigned talent across three genres – gospel, pop and rhythm and blues (R&B) with amazing voices.

Kenyan veteran songbird and actress Sanaipei Tande alongside leading jazz vocalist Kavutha Mwanzia Asiyo are the Selectors chosen to take charge of the auditions in Kenya.

The Selectors from each of the four countries will be tasked to unearth three groups from each genre after mass auditions to steer them through the elimination round before the winning group is chosen.
