American gospel singer who ‘cheated death’ twice, thrills Kenyan fans at Praise Fest

Thousands of faithfuls congregated at Citam Church in Karen Nairobi on Friday for the 4th edition of Christian Music Festival dubbed Praise Fest.

The festival has in recent times brought several internationally acclaimed artistes to Kenya, among them Sinach, Hillsong Worship and Todd Dulaney.

This year, the headline act was by Travis Greene, one of Gospel music’s biggest stars with multiple No 1 albums on the Billboard charts.

To an electrified congregation, the American singer, songwriter and pastor performed songs from his albums such as Made a Way, Intentional, You Waited and the latest single Nara.

AWARD NOMINATIONS

His two-hour performance was phenomenal, leaving the crowd asking for more.

While on stage, Travis showcased his suave dancing skills and knowledge of African gospel songs by performing Imela by Nathaniel Bassey.

The award winning artiste has been nominated for multiple awards including two Grammy Awards and 13 Stellar Awards.

Last year he carted away nine Stellar Awards.

This was the artiste’s first visit to Kenya and he revealed that he and his spouse, Dr Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Greene, are expecting their third boy.

CHEATED DEATH

Last year, the musician was heavily criticised for agreeing to perform at President Donald Trump’s Inaugural ball.

Greene has cheated death twice. The doctors declared him a stillbirth when he was born and it took them several minutes to resuscitate him.

Then at four years, he fell off the fourth floor of a building. He was declared dead, but later on resuscitated.

In his testimonies, he says that he wasn’t hurt and that he was saved by somebody who revealed himself as Jesus.
