Centum’s Sh1bn bonus leaves social media abuzz
Investment firm Centum set the social media astir as Kenyans took to Twitter and Facebook to express interest in the company that is to pay its employees Sh1 billion in bonuses.
This followed a report in the on Tuesday that Centum had more than doubled the bonus payout to its 90 workers to Sh1 billion in the year ending March.
The figure made the firm the largest bonus payer in corporate Kenya, with an employee getting an average of Sh11.1 million.
“The bonus is high because of the performance,” said Centum CEO James Mworia.
As the firm trended on social media, Mr Mworia was quoted as saying: “It is not the amount of papers or long-term experience one has. It’s what you do with what you have!”
Businessman Chris Kirubi — who has the single largest stake in the firm, at 26 per cent — was among the individuals excited about the bonus.

On the Daily Nation Facebook page, it was all awe as Facebook users praised the Centum CEO and expressed interest in working at the firm.
