Cancer risk in new ‘healthy’ soaps you use


They are the newly popular anti-bacterial solid and liquid soaps now gaining ground among the county’s middle and upper classes.

For these cleansers contain the harmful chemicals triclosan and triclocarban — and they are known to cause cancers, among other ailments.

They put users at a higher risk of experts have disclosed.

Other effects range from infertility to retardation in children while their continuous use could cause resistance to the treatment of diseases caused by certain types of bacteria, according to Dr Victor Ngani, chairman of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union.
