Can you pay Sh10,000 to spend an evening with Lupita?

Oscar Award winner Lupita Nyong’o will be charging Sh10, 000 per person at a gala dinner she will be hosting at the Villa Rosa Kempinski hotel in Nairobi next week.

The gala dinner is part of the itinerary in her homecoming tour in Kenya. This is her first official visit since winning the Oscar Academy Award in 2014.

In an event poster shared on social media, the gala dinner, dubbed “An evening with Lupita” will be held on July 2 at Villa Rosa Kempinski.

The invite does not state whether the Sh10, 000 will cater for food and drinks, but one clear statement reads, “Limited tickets on sale.” A corporate table for 10 costing Sh100, 000 is available.

DRESS CODE

The dress code for the evening is formal cocktail attire.

The gala dinner is sponsored by several corporates among them Safaricom, Kenya Airways and Bavaria Auto. It is in aid of the protection of elephants.

The Sh10, 000 price tag for the gala dinner sparked heated online conversations and made ‘Lupita’ a top trend on Twitter in Nairobi.

In the thread, tweeps discussed what else they could do with the Sh10, 000.
