Campus stations dominate inaugural Kenya Radio Awards
United States International University (USIU) and Kenya Institute of Media Communication (KIMC) were the big winners during the first ever radio awards that featured campus radio stations.
USIU students’ triumphed during Wednesday evening’s Kenya Radio Awards gala at Kenya National Theatre with their Morning Madness show being voted the best campus radio show while KIMC’s ECN Radio scooped the award for the best radio in campus.
Radio Jambo’s Massawe Jappani and Qwetu’s Vincent Ateya were voted the best female and male presenters respectively.
BEST RADIO SHOW
Radio Citizen’s Willy M Tuva won the Best Radio Music Show Award through his Mambo Mseto show.
Other big winners of the night were vernacular stations Musyi FM which bagged the best vernacular female presenter award for Irene Wavinya and best vernacular gospel show, Kithembeo by Samwel Mutuku.
Kameme FM scooped the Best vernacular Radio Comedian for Kiengei as well as Best Radio DJ as Deejay Dolls.
Inooro FM management also walked away with two awards for the Best Afternoon and Best Sports shows.
