Businessman ‘Money Mike’ laid to rest
Gaudy Nairobi businessman Mike Gathecha was laid to rest on Tuesday at an elaborate funeral ceremony at his family home in Juja.
Gathecha, who died in a grisly road accident on Thika Superhighway two weekends ago, was given a lavish send-off befitting his life on the fast lane.
The businessman, who is related to President Uhuru Kenyatta, died when his car rammed into a stationary lorry during the night accident.
Kiambu Governor William Kabogo was among the mourners.
Gathecha operated a chain of business, including the famous Juja Capital Centre club, and was a partner in some of the flashy clubs in Nairobi.
He drove top of the range vehicles with customized number plates.
He was mostly known for his philanthropic ways as well as a flashy lifestyle too, which led to his nickname, Money Mike.
