Businessman charged with threatening creditor with murder

A Nairobi businessman appeared in court on Wednesday charged with threatening to kill the director of Cardiff Systems Limited Mr Erick Rabongo Muliro over a Sh18, 000 debt.

Duncan Kitune Kimangu, an accountant and director of Dubleg general supplies limited, allegedly sent an email to Mr Rabongo threatening him with death.

This was after the accused had issued a dud cheque to Cardiff Systems Limited last year.

The accused did not take plea when he appeared before Kibera Chief Magistrate Ann Ong’ijo after an anomaly was detected on the charge sheet.

Assistant Director of public prosecution Mary Wangele urged the court to defer the plea taking to Thursday.

“We ask the court to give us time to amend the charge sheet to include the threatening words used in the email the suspect send to the complainant,” Ms Wangele said.

The application was granted.

Prosecution documents indicate that on March 12 this year, Mr Kitule sent an email to Mr Rabongo threatening to eliminate him.

He will also be charged with issuing a bad cheque of Sh18,000 to Cardiff Systems limited knowing that his account did not have sufficient funds.

According to the charge, he allegedly committed the offence on May 30 2014 at Hurlingham, Nairobi.

His application for cash bail was rejected and was remanded in police custody.
