Businesses take to digital payment to avoid City Hall

Tech-savvy city businessmen are avoiding the long queues at City Hall and trooping to Huduma Centre for payment of business permits and seasonal parking tickets.

The centre has self-service kiosks that ensure faster payment compared to the long queues at City Hall.

The centre is located at the General Post Office (GPO) and was opened last month by President Kenyatta.

The County government is already reaping big, receiving its first cheque of Sh5 million from Posta officials on Wednesday for revenue collected for just two weeks.

The amount was for payments for single business permits and seasonal parking tickets.

Governor Evans Kidero said that they are looking forward to expand the number of services on offer at the centre.

Posta plans to open similar centers in post offices around the city.

The outsourcing is expected to minimise corruption at City Hall
