A woman in the male dominated Middle East Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was divorced just after two hours for using social media.

A groom in Saudi Arabia filed for divorce after realizing his wife had shared wedding pictures with her friends on Snapchat, an image messaging mobile app, according to the British Daily Mail on Monday.

Not sharing pictures or videos of the ceremony was a binding clause in the marriage contract.

“Regretfully, my sister did not honor the pledge and used Snapchat to share pictures from the wedding ceremony with her female friends, resulting in the shocking decision by the groom to cancel their marriage and call for a divorce,” said a brother of the bride.

REASON FOR DIVORCE

The divorce created a rift between the families. The bride’s family argued that the agreement was unfair, while the groom’s side claimed he had the right to make the decision.

Mobile use has often been a reason for divorce in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier this year, in the city of Jeddah, a newlywed Saudi man divorced his wife after failing to get her attention in a hotel room – she was too busy texting friends.

“When he asked her if her friends were more important than he was, the bride answered that they were,” a relative of the groom said.
