Drama unfolded in Athi River Machakos County on Thursday when armed police officers rescued their three traffic colleagues who had been arrested by Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission officers.

The traffic police officers were arrested as they collected bribes from motorists but they resisted the arrest and called their colleagues who were fast to the rescue.

According to a traffic officer who did not wish to be named the officers resisted as they were not sure of the identify of the other party.

CONFISCATED

“They were not in uniform and so you could not tell weather they were officers or criminals, “said the officer.

He said the EACC officers were conducting search on the three traffic officers when their colleagues arrive in three vehicles and rescued them.

The EACC officers had confiscated Sh28,000 and mobile phones belonging to the traffic officers, he said.

The team of traffic officers drove away leaving the money and the phones behind. EACC Director Lower Eastern Region Susan Kinyoki did not respond to queries on the incident.
