Police shoot armed gangsters dead on Kimathi street

Police on Tuesday gunned down two men on Kimathi street, in the city centre.

One bystander, a woman, was also shot during the midday shootout .

She later succumbed to head injuries at the Crescent Medical Centre, opposite Jamia Mall.

Police say the two men were part of a four-man gang that they were trailing.

The gang made a first stop at the I&M bank at Bazaar building, at the intersection of Moi Avenue and Biashara Street.

They then proceeded to GT bank on Kimathi street.

Police confronted the four as they tried to enter the bank and ordered them to surrender.

Two members of the gang who were armed drew out pistols, prompting the shootout.

The two other unarmed robbers escaped on foot.
