Four people were slashed to death early Monday morning at a petrol station in Utawala, Embakasi, opposite the General Service Unit (GSU) training school.

Police found two bodies dumped at the service bay and another one at the mini-mart shop.

The fourth victim died while being rushed to hospital.

Four other people have been rushed to hospital with injuries following the 3am attack.

The Astrol petrol station is located along the Eastern bypass. Blood and personal effects were splattered all over the petrol station.

The assailants broke into the safe and stole an unknown amount of money.

“Whatever happed here was a case of robbery with violence and murder. This is heinous and uncalled for. We have launched a manhunt for the thugs, said to be known criminals in the area,” said Nairobi County police Chief Benson Kibui.

“We are made to understand that these assailants hacked the two watchmen to death, dumped their bodies at the petrol stations service bay before proceeding inside to the supermarket and the petrol stations office where they hacked the other staff, two of whom succumbed to their injuries. Amongst the dead were two fuel attendants, and two watchmen,” added Mr Kibui.

Initial reports from Kayole DCIO Seroney had indicated that at least eight people were killed in the incident.

The area is under the jurisdiction of Kayole police division

The petrol station owner James Mwangi says that he was informed of the incident at around 5pm and managed to rush his injured staff to Mater Hospital where they are admitted.

“We have given the police the information that we have and we hope that they will bring to book the perpetrators of this brutal act,” he said.
