Boniface Mwangi shuts down Twitter troll on campaign financing

Aspiring Starehe MP Boniface Mwangi on Friday shushed a troll who attacked his ongoing online funds drive to bankroll his campaign.

The funds drive is targetting to raise Sh1 million.

A Twitter user had challenged Mwangi to go back to activism if he does not have campaign money.

The user also observed that Mwangi is asking for donations, yet upon being elected, he will pocket a Sh1 million salary per month without sharing with his constituents.

Mwangi replied with a quintessential post: He intends to be the voice of the people and will take a 50 per cent pay cut once in parliament.

Mwangi is anchoring his funds drive, dubbed #JoinBonnie1MillionChallenge, on the argument that candidates funded by the people are accountable to the electorates.

The campaign has collected Sh700, 000 in donations by the time of publishing.

The aspirant was on Friday cleared by the IEBC after presenting his nomination papers in style with dozens of riders.

Mwangi will be running for parliament on an Ukweli party ticket and will face off ODM’s Steve Mbogo and Jubilee’s Charles Njagua aka Jaguar.
