Bodyguard of former Intelligence boss attacked, firearm stolen
A police officer attached to former National Intelligence Service (NIS) director Michael Gichangi is admitted in hospital in a serious condition after he was attacked by unknown men who also robbed him of his firearm.
Constable George Muthami was at the Drive Inn stage along Thika Road at around 3am when he was accosted by three men who hit him with a blunt object on the head.
Starehe OCPD Benard Nyakwaka said that the officer sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to a dispensary at the General Service Unit (GSU) headquarters before being transferred to the Kenyatta National Hospital.
The attackers robbed him of his official Ceska pistol serial number 051995 and 30 rounds of ammunition.
“He is in a stable condition but the firearm has not been recovered,” the OCPD said.
The police however did not say what he was doing at the stage at 3am.
