Boda boda riders now take Kidero to court over city centre ban

The High Court has declined to suspend Nairobi governor Evans Kidero’s directive to stop boda boda operators from carrying passengers within the CBD.

Twelve boda boda saccos had on Tuesday moved to court to challenge Dr Kidero’s directive issued on November 11 that stopped them from ferrying passengers within the CBD except for those ferrying goods.

In their application, the saccos appealed to have the notice suspended on the grounds that they are law abiding citizens who depend on their licensed businesses to eke a living.

They also claim there was no prior notification to stop them from doing their businesses within the CBD adding that they have already suffered losses owing to the unlawful notice.
