Popular Ugandan singer, Bobi Wine, is crying foul over what he claims to be a government ban on his latest song.
Bobi Wine has expressed his astonishment after learning his track Dembe, which he sang in Luganda, cannot be played by the national broadcaster even on request.
“I was at UBC (Uganda Broadcasting Corporation) and was told straight that following a meeting, it was resolved that the song (Dembe) will not air. Many people call on request hours to ask for the song but it is never played. Some programmes directors of radio and TV stations have old me they received calls ordering them not to play the song,” he said.
The lyrics of the song reportedly calls for peaceful elections and peaceful transfer of power. The hit was released at the start of this year.
