Big names to perform at Garissa memorial concert in Uhuru Park

A memorial concert for the Garissa University attack victims will be held Tuesday evening at the Freedom Corner in Uhuru Park, Nairobi.

The concert will also celebrate the survivors of the April 2 harrowing experience.

According to one of the organisers, activist Boniface Mwangi, several artistes have been lined up to perform at the concert that will start from 4 p.m. and end at 7 p.m.

Among the artistes expected include Eric Wainaina, Juliani, Chris Adwar, Atemi, Hart the Band, Ayub Ogada and Mutinda, among others.

Members of the public wishing to attend the concert have been urged to carry candles, flowers or the Kenyan flag.

Meanwhile, the African solidarity spirit was displayed on Monday as thousands of South African students at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, matched in the streets.

Dubbed ‘The Kenya Solidarity Match’, the university students sang songs and performed dances in honour of the 147 students killed in the Garissa attacks.
