The battle for control of the ever swelling numbers of bettors in Kenya has intensified following the unveiling of former Brazilian star Ronaldinho and celebrated media personality Carol Radull as the new faces of betting firm Betika.

This past week, the gaming firm – which also sponsors Kenyan Premier League side Sofapaka – has been using these two personalities to endorse their product, with the duo also appearing on its social media pages, adverts and billboards.

Radull and Ronaldinho’s capture comes barely week after another betting firm Betin unveiled former Kenya international McDonald Mariga and TV presenter Joey Muthengi as betting firms in Kenya continue scrambling for renowned personalities for endorsements.

Mariga and Joey’s endorsement for Betin is fashioned in a TV advert which has this duo playing the role of husband and wife.

Ronaldinho – full name Ronaldo de Assis Moreira – is a former Brazilian international who also is regarded by many as the most skillful footballer to grace the modern day game.

In his prime, he won several trophies with Brazil including the 2002 Fifa World Cup in Japan and South Korea. He also had a stellar club career with PSG, Barcelona and AC Milan.

At Barcelona he is perhaps best remembered for scoring a memorable goal against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in the Uefa Champions League at Stamford Bridge in 2013.

Radull, who hosts a popular weekly radio sports show, is famous for her love for sports and huge following on social media.
