Battle for Ngong Road on as Quins host Nondies

By BRIAN WASUNA November 29th, 2013 2 min read

Kenya Harlequins will take on neighbours Nondescripts in the Kenya Cupon Saturday as the two sides battle over supremacy of Ngong Road.

Third placed Nondies have already chalked up a 22-3 win over the third party in the Ngong Road hate triangle, Impala, and will be looking to go past Quins.

Their lethal backrow combination of former Mean Machine captain Cedric Odera, Ben Nyambu and in form Eric Okoma has proven vital to creating a good running platform for their agile backs in the form of Leslie Ochieng, Peter Lugano and Enoch Makinga.

Quins on the other hand will be looking to avenge their 23-18 defeat at the hands of Nondies last season. They have collected two wins out of two this season, a 31-10 drubbing of Mean Machine on day one of the league followed by a 22-16 win over Homeboyz.

This has left them in fifth place, albeit with two games in hand, against Impala and Homeboyz. Quins host of internationals such as Isaac Adimo, Sidney Ashioya, Nick Barasa, and Dennis Muhanji should prove vital to their quest against Nondies, and in their campaign in general.

League leaders Strathmore travel to Kakamega to face Western Bulls, who shocked Mwamba 15-13 last weekend. The Bulls have made a marked improvement since promotion to the Kenya Cup last season, and will be expected to give Strathmore a run for their money.

Second placed Nakuru host University of Nairobi’s Mean machine at the Nakuru Athletic Club. Nakuru go in as favourites, but ties between the two have proven to be among the most unpredictable in the league.

In other ties, Homeboyz face KCB at the Lion’s Den in Ruaraka, Impala visit Mwamba at the Railways Club, Mombasa host Blak Blad, and bottom of the table Eldoret and Kisumu meet at the Hill School in Eldoret.
