Azam to splash out Sh10m for Kenyan striker Jesse Were


Kenyan international striker, Jesse Were, has become a top transfer target for Tanzanian club Azam FC, Nairobi News can reveal.

According to Were’s representatives in Nairobi, the Dar es Salaam club is said to be willing to splash out upto Sh10 million to lure the former Tusker FC player from his current Zambia club Zesco.

“I can confirm receiving some phone calls from some intermediaries in Tanzania on the Were subject,” Kenyan agent George Bwana, who brokered Were’s deal to Zambia, told Nairobi News.

The 26 year old has been enjoying a fine scoring form for Zesco since he joined the Ndola based club in January.

Were’s contribution has helped Zesco earn a place in the Caf Africa Champions League group stage.

If the deal goes through, Were will join his international teammate and fellow striker Allan Wanga at the club.

At the same time, Azam has announced the hiring of new coach Zeben Hernandez, who will replace Englishman Stewart Hall at the end of the current Tanzania league season.

Reports from Dar es Salaam have it that the incoming Spanish coach has indicated that he will hand all players in the team equal opportunities.
