Assistant Chief stabs KCSE candidate over alleged love triangle

A love triangle turned tragic after an Assistant Chief stabbed a Form four candidate several times injuring her before trying to commit suicide.

Alice Wasike, an administrator of Samoya in Bungoma County, allegedly stabbed a 21-year-old Merclin Machuma, a KCSE candidate, several times in the stomach for suspecting her of having an affair with her husband.

According to the girl’s mother, Catherine Nafula, the administrator arrived at the homestead on Sunday saying that she wanted to have a word with the student of Samoya Secondary School.

She, however, refused to be ushered into the house but instead insisted to see the girl outside.

STABS IN STOMACH

Immediately when the girl was summoned, she descended on her stabbing her a number of times in the stomach amid screams for help.

“We were happy to welcome the administrator to our home only (for her) to turn out to be an animal and descended on our daughter stabbing her as if she was not a human being.

“She humbly came and said that she wanted to talk to my daughter over an important issue. If I could have known her intention I could not have allowed her to our home,” said Mrs Nafula in tears.

Mr Thomas Simiyu, the girl’s father, said that he met with the administrator on the road who informed him that she was going to his homestead to drop a mobile phone belonging to the girl.

SUICIDE ATTEMPT

The administrator took off immediately after the incident and tried to commit suicide by taking poison.

Police, who were informed of the incident, arrived at the scene amid protest from the area residents and took both the girl and the administrator to the Bungoma County Referral Hospital where they are receiving treatment.

On Monday, students took to the streets and marched to the Bungoma Police Station demanding justice for their colleague.

Bungoma South OCPD, David Kirui, said the incident has been reported at the station and that investigations are ongoing.

“We received the report which has been recorded and I will ensure that the suspect is brought to justice since investigation is ongoing,” assured Mr Kirui.
