Asike signs for Tusker, eligible to play

Former Sofapaka defender Eugene Ambuchi Asike has signed a new deal that will see him stay at Tusker until June 2017.

Asike signed the lucrative deal on Tuesday afternoon.

Speaking to Nairobi News Sports, he said that he was happy with the move and that he can’t wait to get back in action.

“I have signed a renewable two year contract with Tusker and I am very happy to have gotten back the opportunity to play in the Kenyan Premier League.

“The negotiations took longer than I expected, but I have been training with the team for two weeks now and I believe that I will be available for selection soon,” he said.

Asike terminated his contract with Batoto ba Mungu on January 5th after the club failed to pay his three month salary together with his sign on fee.

His complaint was ratified by the KPL Internal Disciplinary and Complains Committee who ordered the Sofapaka management to relieve him of his contractual obligations immediately.

For this, Asike does not have to wait until the next transfer window opens in June since the committee treats his case as special.

“The KPL IDCC reviewed the manner in which my contract was terminated, and I have already received my transfer card. I am working hard to gain full fitness and hopefully I shall play before the first leg ends,” a hopeful Asike said.

Asike will fight for his position against the brewers’ mainstay strikers James Situma, Luke Ochieng, Aboud Omar and Lloyd Wahome.
