Apply for TNA ticket by Thursday, aspirants told

Politicians interested in running for the Mathare seat on a TNA ticket have until Thursday to file their papers.

TNA chairman Johnson Sakaja said the party has given the three days deadline to enable it determine which mode they will use to pick the flag bearer for the by-election.

He said no one had officially sought the party’s nod for the seat formerly held by Mr George Wanjohi.

However, Mr Sakaja said he had been informally notified of at least two interested aspirants before Monday’s meeting.

“But sending me an SMS or calling me or even meeting me in a hotel is not an indication you are a contender,” said Mr Sakaja.

Mr Sakaja spoke on Monday after meeting TNA MPs in Nairobi led by Starehe MP Maina Kamanda.

However, the fate of the by-election depends on a court ruling scheduled for Wednesday.
