Aladwa supports Atwoli to host Labour Day fete

ODM Nairobi Branch chairman George Aladwa has voiced his support for Central Organisation of Trade Union (COTU) to host this year’s Labour Day celebrations.

Cotu, which has over the years organised the celebrations, has accused government-backed rival union, Pusetu-K, of hiring university students to disrupt Thursday’s event at Uhuru park.

In a statement, Mr Aladwa urged Nairobi residents to attend the event in support of COTU and Francis Atwoli.

“Nairobi shall stand with the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU. Let’s all go to Uhuru Park and listen to Francis Atwoli and his team as they speak for the workers,” read Mr Aladwa’s statement.

Both Cotu and Pusetu have claimed stakes to host this year’s  Labour Day celebrations.

According to Labour Secretary Kazungu Kambi,  the two organisations are both representatives of workers and  should  work together to ensure the success of Labour Day.
