Raila’s daughter hints interest in Gor Mahia top job

Rosemary Odinga has hinted at the possibility of contesting Gor Mahia’s top seat during the club’s forthcoming elections.

In an exclusive interview with Nairobi News on Tuesday, the eldest daughter to Cord leader Raila Odinga, also revealed she is an ardent fan of the club, “although she prefers watching most of the matches from home.”

She also shared her “dream” of one day watching Gor Mahia play Barcelona in the World Club Championship.

A section of Gor Mahia’s stakeholders on social media, including popular Daily Nation sports columnist Tom Osanjo have in recent times fronted Rosemary to vie for the Chairperson’s seat in the club’s elections which are due to be held before the end of the year.

WORLD CLASS PLAYERS

“It’s an honour for someone to propose me for such an important position. I believe Gor Mahia needs a team of committed individuals to propel it to greater heights. Everyone in our club has a role to play if Gor Mahia is to reclaim its position as one of the Africa’s greatest clubs,” Rosemary said.

“This country has produced some world class players, I think its time we start seeing world class managers too. It is my dream that one day Gor Mahia will play Barcelona in the World Club Championship while Harambee Stars sweat it out against Brazil and Germany at the World Cup. Are my dreams not valid?” she posed.

If she actually throws her hat into the ring, Rosemary will join Dan Oketch and the club’s former secretary general Chris Omondi who have both expressed their interest to challenge incumbent Ambrose Rachier for the seat.
