Nuttall raises fresh storm at Zamalek

Just two days after his acrimonious exit from Gor Mahia, Frank Nuttall has raised another storm at his new destination.

The Scottish coach has landed his new boss at Zamalek, Alex McLeish, in big trouble arising from the manner the Egyptian club hired him.

According to reports on Kingfut.com, the Zamalek coach has been slapped with a Sh200,000 fine by the Egyptian FA competitions committee for skipping a post-match conference so as to avoid questions about Nuttall’s appointment as his assistant.

“He has been avoiding questions about that coach coming in from Kenya (Nuttall). Maybe there is that worry Zamalek tapped him which if proven could put them in trouble with Fifa. The saga could be interesting,” an Egyptian journalist who wished not to be named told Nairobi News.

LEGAL REDRESS

McLeish recommended his compatriot Nuttall for the job and the latter left for Egypt after the weekend Mashemeji derby in Nairobi to negotiate a deal with the North African giants without seeking permission from his employer. This is according to Gor Mahia Secretary General Ronald Ngala.

It is from his new base in Cairo where Nuttall, who enjoyed a successful spell at the helm of Gor Mahia, reportedly drafted his resignation letter which was hand delivered to the club by his Kenyan lawyer.

Gor Mahia have maintained studious silence over the matter, although reports suggest the club’s legal team is considering its options including seeking compensation from Zamalek for tapping Nuttall.

The move by Zamalek to upload and thereafter pull down a post on social media confirming Nuttall as the club’s new assistant coach is believed to be one of the avenues Gor Mahia intends to pursue for redress.
