2 Chainz finally rocks Nairobi

After failing to show up and disappointing his Kenyan fans for the Jameson Live Party in November, American rapper 2 Chainz more than made up for it in an unforgettable and outstanding performance at the concert that was held on Jamhuri Day.

The musician gave a solid one hour performance that had his fans rocking to every hit.

By 9 pm, Ngong Race Course, the venue of the event, was almost empty as majority of the fans had not yet shown up. There were fears that the show would be a big flop. But by 11 p.m. fans started filing in.

Curtain-raising for the event were Homeboyz Radio’s G Money, renowned DJ Stylez and DJ Bash.

GRAND ENTRANCE

2 Chainz finally made a grand entrance on stage to deafening screams, cheers and shouts from his fans. He kicked off his performance with Duffle bag boyz, a collaboration he did with Lil Wayne in 2007 and one of the songs that raised his hip-hop profile and pushed him to stardom.

Some of the other hits he performed were Feds Watching, Birthday song, Mercy, I’m Different and (un-publishable) problem.

The star was quite amazed at how his Kenyan fans sang along to all his songs without missing a single word.

In a show of solidarity and acknowledging the country’s Jamhuri Day, 2 Chainz sported a Kenyan flag on his head while performing the song No Lie.

He also took a few minutes to thank his fans for the sold out show and said “…2 Chainz ain’t never missed a show, (un-publishable) everybody who didn’t believe I was coming”.

AKON ON STAGE

Fans also got a double treat when R&B superstar Akon, who was also in the country, joined 2 Chainz on the stage. Akon, however, did not perform.

Some of the Kenyan celebrities that attended the concert were Sauti Sol, Madtraxx, Meja, Nick Mutuma and Sarah Hassan.

Throughout the show, 2 Chainz was heavily guarded by five burly, unsmiling bodyguards on the stage. Photographers and camera crews were not allowed near the stage and had to set up camp at the VIP area.
