Noah Wanyama was eventually allowed access into the 8,000-seater stadium and from a vintage point at the VIP stands, he sat a few rows behind the chief guest Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
He watched as his son captain the national team to a historic 2-1 victory against the Africa Cup of Nations Champions.
The Nairobi News has since established that Wanyama senior, who was driving a silver Toyota Voxy, could have been stopped from accessing the stadium by a group of goons affiliated to a local football club in which he has in the past served as an administrator.
This in the wake of differences between Wanyama senior, himself a former Kenya international, and the current office.
