Woman burns husband over fare home

A 28 year old man is nursing serious burns at Kitengela Medical Hospital after his wife splashed hot water on him on Friday night.

Laban Chacha, a father of two, said his wife was disgruntled by his inability to raise fare for her trip to her rural home for the Christmas festivities.

The husband explained he had not been paid and could not afford the trip.

“I arrived home at around 6:30 pm and greeted my wife who was boiling some water. I then started playing with my two children on the seat,” said the father of two.

His wife, Lucy Ratema, went to the bathroom, leaving behind the boiling water, but not before she had asked for the sh5000 she needed for the trip to Busia.

“I told her I was not yet paid and asked her to be patient since she would travel immediately I was paid,” said the injured Chacha.

On her return from the bathroom, the woman reached for the boiling water and splashed it on Mr Chacha, leaving him with serious burns on the chest and back.

Mr Chacha screamed for help as his wife escaped. Neighbours rushed him to hospital.

The doctors say he sustained 65% burn injuries.

Curiously, the woman visited him at the hospital on Saturday morning and said she had been “cheated by the devil” and pleaded for forgiveness.
