Wario storms out of Caf meeting to attend prayers


Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario on Friday walked out of a crucial press briefing attended by top officials from the Confederation of African Football (Caf), to reportedly attend early Friday prayers.

Wario, a devout Muslim had earlier on appeared for the presser alongside top Caf officials led by vice president Suketu Patel at his Kencom House offices.

He then went on to address a battery of journalists while assuring them of the government’s commitment towards staging the 2018 African Nations Championships (Chan).

LEFT IN A HUFF

But then as the Q & A session commenced, the under fire CS addressed one question from a journalist before leaving in a huff.

“It is encouraging to hear that Caf isn’t here to police, but help us plan for the tournament. We have not refused to make public our plans, instead we staggered things because one can handle one thing at a time. We await the Caf report on our preparedness and that will help us plan,” said Wario.

Meanwhile, the continental body’s vice president Suketu Patel confirmed commitment towards Kenya’s hosting the tournament involving home based player, but added that Kenya has to be ready by October, or else the competition will be taken away.
