Uhuru told to save new Sports CS from “rampant” friend visits

Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali wants the government to relocate the office of the Cabinet Secretary for Sports Rashid Echesa from Nairobi’s Kencom House, in the  city centre.

Washiali reasoned that the relocation will save the new Cabinet Secretary from “rampant visits by friends.”

He was speaking during the CS’s home coming party in Mumias on Saturday.

The MP said the new CS has been finding it hard to discharge his duties because friends were jamming his office.

Washiali asked the CS to do away with friends who come to idle in his office and distract him from attending to his national duties.

“Let them understand that you are now a Cabinet Secretary and when you are in the office, you are supposed to serve Kenyans from all parts of the country. That office should be respected,” said Mr Washiali.

The MP expressed his dissatisfaction with the high number of friends visiting Echesa’s office for hours.
He said he is disgusted at the “insensitive and uncaring” friends – whom he declined to mention – for their low regard to a public office.

“I ask the good friends of Mr Mohammed (Echesa) to allow him work for the betterment of the ministry. They should understand that he will judged with service delivery at the end of his tenure,” added Mr Washiali.

Deputy President William Ruto, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale attended the event.

Mr Echesa kept off the topic and urged the people of Western to embrace Jubilee government.
