Olunga’s value skyrockets to Sh1b after stellar first season in Europe

Harambee Stars forward Micheal Olunga’s market worth is fast approaching the Sh1 billion mark.

This for a player who cost current Swedish club Djurgårdens IF just Sh16 million barely a year ago.

According to sections of the Swedish media, Olunga is currently the subject of a Sh550 million bid from Turkish giants Galatasaray.

That bid hasn’t been accepted though and negotiations are said to be ongoing.

However, Galatasaray’s bid could be thwarted by interests from three other clubs namely Trazbonspor (Turkey), CSKA Moscow (Russia) and newly promoted Chinese side Hengteng Guizhou.

TRANSFER FEE

It’s increasingly projected that the former Kenyan Premier League player of the year would command a transfer fee of upto Sh1 billion if a bidding war materialises.

Olunga himself has remained non committal on this subject since returning to Sweden early this month for pre-season training.

In his last interview with Nairobi News, he that there has been interest from Spanish club Real Betis, but talked of his wish to see out his five year contract at Djurgardens, a spell that would also see him complete his Engineering course.
