Former Harambee Stars coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee has reportedly pocketed Sh38 million as compensation following the sale of star footballer Micheal Olunga to China.

Olunga, 23, recently transferred to Chinese top flight club Guanzhou Hengfeng Zhichen from Sweden’s Djurgardens IF, in a deal estimated to be worth half a billion shillings. He has since competed in two league games for his new club, but is yet to score a goal.

Solidarity fees is compensation paid up to all clubs that contributed to the player’s education and training, in an event the footballer attracts any transfer fees before his 23rd birthday.

COMPENSATION

According to Soka, the Nairobi based Liberty Sports Academy which is owned by Mulee, who doubles up as a football pundit has received the whooping amount, as compensation for training and educating Olunga for upto six years earlier on in his country.

Meanwhile, Tusker FC, Gor Mahia and Thika United, all of whom Olunga turned out for in a single season earlier on, have each received a compensation of Sh2 million form the Chinese club.

This is the second time in just over a year that these clubs are benefiting from Olunga’s sale. These clubs also pocketed part of the proceeds when the Upper High School alumnus moved from Gor Mahia to Djurgardens last year.
