Woman electrocuted while illegally connecting electricity in Kibera

A 20-year-old woman was on Tuesday night electrocuted after she allegedly illegally connected electricity in Kibera’s Laini Saba slums.

Her electrocution caused a fire that burned over 20 iron sheet houses and property of unknown value in the surrounding area were destroyed.

The fire was put out by the Nairobi County fire brigade late in the night. The deceased’s body was taken to the city mortuary.

COMMITTED SUICIDE

In another incident at Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums, a 24-year-old woman suspected to have committed suicide was found dead inside her house. The police suspect that she might have taken her own life, although she did not leave any suicide note.

According to her roommate, the deceased has been stressed after her only child died in 2016. Police picked the body and took it to city mortuary pending postmortem.

Another incident was reported in Kayole where a 32-year-old male adult was found hanging by a wire tied around his neck.

The deceased was discovered by his eight-year-old son who rushed and called their neighbour who in her turn reported the matter to the police. The police later visited the scene and took his body to city mortuary.
