Why some Kenyans are disappointed after Raila’s oath plan pushed


A section of Kenyans online are a disappointed lot after the opposition coalition postponed the swearing-in of its leader Raila Odinga that was scheduled for Tuesday.

Nasa co-principal Musalia Mudavadi announced the indefinite postponement of the ceremony on Sunday during a press briefing  at the Okoa Kenya offices in Nairobi.

The coalition said it consulted at the national and international level before it made the decision to postpone the swearing-in ceremony.

“Following extensive internal consultations and engagement with a wide range of national and international interlocutors, the Nasa leadership wishes to advise the Nasa fraternity and the general public that the swearing in of Rt Hon Raila Amolo Odinga and His Excellency Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka as President and Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, and the launch of The People’s Assembly, scheduled for Tuesday, December 12, have been postponed to a later date,” said Mr Mudavadi.

He was accompanied with co-principal Moses Wetang’ula, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana and the committee that was organising the swearing-in ceremony.

FOR A RIDE

Online, Kenyans were accused the opposition of taking its supporters for a ride.

Sen Ledama ole Kina‏ however had some wise words for netizens; “KOT are bitter. They want Raila to be sworn in. But I have this for you. When you are surrounded by Lions pretend that you are dead. Akili kichwani !! @amugira.”

@BelAkinyii added; “If you were resisting because of Raila then you were never genuine. Raila will go, Kenya’s problems will remain. What am saying is this thing is nolonger about Raila. Be disappointed at yourself if you’ve already given up the fight.”

@myuyiraph retorted; “I can’t believe this, Raila has remained to be a falure. He has utilized all options upto Z. Let him support Mudavadi 2022 or Kalonzo. I just hate him.”

‘LET KENYATTA LEAD’

@RazAthman retorted; “Further divisions among Kenya opposition supporters… Why postpone swearing-in of people’s President Raila? Maybe NASA should bow down and let Kenyatta lead.”

@ItsMutai tweeted; “Raila Odinga himself had said he doesn’t want to swear himself in as President of the Republic of Kenya. But his supporters wanted exactly that. As usual he was drawn into the euphoria without proper planning and thinking. See now the consequences. But critic & you will see fire.”

@Mr_vitoh lamented; “Since August we’ve been faithful and hopefully that things might change, what’s the point of toying with our feelings. Strategy is the key. Baba has the best soldiers but I believe he is a coward.”

@hamidnoor added; “Nasa has lost respect for its followers and its time supporters mind their business…how often can you lie to your loyal fans? From Tallying Centre to poll agents to swearing in? Nasa Shall rest in peace….it’s time we demand respect.”
