Shutdown in the city as Uhuru, Raila launch manifestos
Activities in Nairobi city are expected to slacken on Monday and Tuesday as the two leading presidential candidates launch their respective manifestos ahead of the August election.
President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Monday unveil his policies and ambitions for the next five years if re-elceted at a function that will be held as Kasarani stadium.
The event is expected to disrupt traffic inbound traffic at Thika Superhighway.
Nasa’s presidential candidate Raila Odinga will unveil his manifesto a day later, on Tuesdaya at Ngong racecourse from 9am.
Jubilee Party has already accused Nasa of copying its manifesto, including a pledge of free secondary education.
Nasa is expected to unveil its campaign manifesto containing region-specific programmes.

Mr Odinga’s manifesto is tailored to address the needs of every corner of the country in a bid to appeal to all Kenyans.
The region-specific promises have been collapsed into seven pillars addressing national reconciliation and healing, resolving historical injustices including implementing the Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report, realising equality of women, youth and persons with disabilities, strengthening devolution, transforming government by implementing servant leadership, realising social and economic rights as enshrined in Article 43 of the Constitution, and eradicating poverty and unemployment.
The Nation has learnt that the manifesto heavily borrows from the Okoa Kenya proposal by which the opposition wanted to amend the Constitution.
