A policeman in Kiambu county has donated his betting harvest to Macheo children’s home in Thika town.

Thirty five year old David Gikunda Kuurahad participated in the “Betway Gives Back” promotion that ran in December, 2017.

A condition for the winner was to donate part of his win to a charity of his choice.

The campaign required participants to place at least two ‘Both Teams to Score’ bets on the English Premier League between 22nd and 23rd December 2017.

Mr Karuri placed his bet on the 23rd December. The win included Sh150,000 to a charity of the winner’s choice.

GREAT DEAL

“I heard about Macheo Children’s Home from a colleague who told me of its challenges and underprivileged children. I knew then I wanted to support them and make a difference. This win, courtesy of Betway, will help them a great deal.” expressed David.

Macheo provides fulltime care at the Children’s Home, meals at schools to increase attendance, healthcare information and medical care to families in need and educational seminars to empower families and their communities.

On a daily basis, 20,000 children in Thika benefit from Macheo’s endeavours.

“Over the last few days, and immediately after the tax review on gaming, we have witnessed an array of reactions from gaming companies. Some have chosen to drop their sponsorships and others have suspended their operations until the taxation is reviewed. However, at Betway we are committed to our customers and will continue to work in the Kenyan market and continue to give back to society” said Betway Country Manager, Wanja Gikonyo.

TALENT SEARCH

Betway’s giving spirit is seen from former campaigns it ran such as the Betway Talent Search which saw two lucky amateur players win a trip to the United Kingdom to practice and interact with players of West Ham United.

The two winners have since gone ahead to progress in their careers as professional footballers by being affiliated with Mathare FC and Bandari FC.
