Miguna in distress call as police raid his Runda home

Self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Miguna Miguna has sent distress calls after police officers raided his home in Nairobi.

The feisty lawyer, who played a key role in the ‘swearing in’ of Nasa leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday at Uhuru Park in Nairobi, announced the raid at his Runda home in an SOS text message to a Nation editor at 7:15am Friday.

“The police have bombed their way into my house. I can’t speak on the phone right now. They have ransacked the house!!” he said.

“Some are still hiding in the compound and my house hoping that I make a move so that they can shoot me and claim that there was a ‘shootout!’ I’m staying put! We need our youth here in large numbers!! 486 Runda Meadows!”

He called on Nasa supporters to rush to his home.

“I would like our youth and the press here! That’s what’s useful. Ask people not to call me or ask questions! What is important is IMMEDIATE ACTION NOW!!!”

Nation reporter Eric Wainaina says Miguna’s supporters have been teargassed but police officers have since left the scene.

Neighbours said there were several cars at his residence at 6am.
