Controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi is wanted for stepping on the toes of vocal cabinet secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i through a post on his blog.

Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi on Monday issued a warrant of arrest against the blogger following allegations that he posted defamatory information about Dr Matiang’i.

Prosecution had asked the court to issue the warrant of arrest because he failed to show up in court to answer to the charge of publishing obscene information in electronic form contrary to the Kenya Information and Communication Act.

He is accused of posting the defamatory allegations against Dr Matiang’i on January 23 on his Twitter account which insinuated that the CS had bought a house to his ‘other’ woman.

The CS has rebutted the claims.

In the said post, the blogger had cautioned over the use of public funds in the said purchase while relating the act to the biblical story of how Eve made Adam to fall by eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.

According to the Prosecution, the post was aimed at tarnishing the name and public integrity of the said Cs.

“At unknown place within the republic of Kenya through social media to with Twitter account handle @C_NyakundiH published obscene information…….words which were meant to deprave and corrupt the public,” prosecution told court.

The blogger had earlier been arrested last Friday and was to appear in court but he failed to show up.

Dr Matiang’i is listed among the witnesses set to testify against the blogger in the case.

The matter will be mentioned on February 13 to confirm whether Mr Nyakundi he will be in police custody to answer to the charges levelled against him.
