Moha ‘Jicho Pevu’ rattles colleagues before swearing in

Nyali Member of Parliament-elect Mohammed Ali has differed with fellow Members of Parliament-elect who have vowed to oppose the proposed pay cut by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Moha, as he is popularly known in social circles, declared his support for the proposed salary reduction stating that he would not stand for any move to increase his salary and that of his fellow elected members of parliament.

Moha’s post in full:

The SRC had unveiled a new pay structure before the elections that slashed MPs salaries from Sh710,000 to Sh621,250 per month.

On Wednesday, Woman Representatives Gladys Wanga (Homabay) and Gathoni wa Muchomba (Kiambu) declared war on the directive, sparking fury from Kenyans.

Moha was elected as an independent.
