Man murders wife as she nursed 3-month-old baby
Gichungo village residents in Ol Kalou constituency are reeling in shock after a man murdered his 28-year-old wife in cold blood.
The mother of three died while undergoing treatment at a Nakuru hospital after the brutal attack by her husband late Sunday evening.
She was nursing a three-month-old baby.
Area OCPD Wilson Kosgei who declined to reveal the name of the deceased until the next of kin is informed said that the man hit his wife with a piece of timber after a domestic quarrel.
He said the deceased sustained serious injuries on the head and was rushed to JM Memorial hospital in Ol Kalou town.
Her condition deteriorated and she was transferred to Nakuru Level Five hospital.
MURDER WEAPON
“She was rescued by members of the public who wanted to kill the suspect but were restrained by the police. We have recovered the murder weapon which is a piece of timber. We are holding the suspect, we are going to charge him with murder,” said the police boss.
A neighbor, Joyce Wangechi said that she heard the victim’s cry for help before she went silent.
“The couple has a history of violence; we only moved to intervene when their son rushed out of the house shouting for help. He claimed that his mother was already dead. The young boy had blood stains on his shirt,” she narrated.
Mr Kosgei said the suspect is a flower farm employee at Kariamu area in the same constituency.
“This is a second incident where a husband has killed his wife in a domestic quarrel in less than two weeks. It’s a worrying trend. Now, who is going to take care of the children? Their father is going to jail while the mother is going to her grave, it’s very unfortunate,” bemoaned Mr Kosgei.
