Nandi Central OCPD Stephen Obara confirmed the Monday afternoon incident that occurred at Koywa village in Chepsonoi sub-location.

The assailant, Josphat Shimonyi Imbusa, reportedly picked a quarrel with his wife, Joan Ilusa Jemunale, when she returned home from Chepsonoi market where she had earlier on gone to sell some merchandise.

Sources say the man had accused his wife of infidelity and claimed she had used the occasion to go to the market as an excuse to get an opportunity to engage in an affair with her lover.

SLASHED

The couple is said to have exchanged bitterly before Mr Imbusa, a guard at a private homestead in the area, descended on the mother of five with a machete and slashed her several times.

She was cut on the neck, shoulder and hands and left for dead in the home as the husband fled on realising he had inflicted fatal injuries on her.

The woman’s screams attracted the attention of neighbours who rushed to the home. Boda boda operators chased after the assailant and stoned him to death before police from Kaimosi Police Station could rescue him.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kapsabet County Referral Hospital Mortuary.
